Vintage Book Page Pumpkins

It’s officially autumn, and these vintage book page pumpkins are a great way to spruce up your fall crafting and decor!

The Making of Vintage Book Page Pumpkins

I have wanted to create vintage pumpkin garland to hang around my home for fall decor for quite some time, but I was lacking inspiration. As it so happens, this past week I stumbled upon an old book about children and a pumpkin adventure from the 1800s and thought the aged text and images would be perfect! The images I chose feature a little boy and a pumpkin, a little girl and a pumpkin fellow, a pumpkin in a patch of corn husks, and a fairy looking at a pumpkin sunset. I made sure to capture some of the autumnal terminology as well, so if you look closely at the pumpkins, you will see little bits of text about full moons, corn husks, a pumpkin patch, and more festive fall snippets from the book. I just love fun little details like that!

My home features slightly different color schemes in each room, so I decided to create 3 different color options for these vintage pumpkins to coordinate with various palettes, including a neutral palette (tans, golds, muted oranges), blues with neutrals, and pinks with neutrals. They all work together if you want to use them all, but you can certainly pick and choose the colors and designs you like most, if that works best for you.

All of the colors come in 2 sizes as well: 4 inch pumpkins and 3 inch pumpkins.

Just as a little side note too, one of the awesome things about this craft is that we are only working with digital images, so no vintage books have been or will need to be destroyed. Yay!

How Can You Use These Printable Pumpkins?

I like to keep things simple, so these pumpkins are ready to print on standard US letter size (8.5 x 11 inch) paper, and are easy to cut out.

Here are a few ideas for using these printables for your own projects:

  • Garland to decorate your fireplace mantel, windows, walls, classroom bulletin board, chalkboard, or door. Use pretty ribbon or rustic twine to add to the rustic fall vibe!
  • An autumn themed scrapbook
  • Decoupage projects
  • Place a few pumpkin cut outs around your fall decor vignettes on tables, benches, and other decorative accent areas.
  • Scatter the small pumpkins around candles and flowers for a lovely party table arrangement.
  • Place a pumpkin cutout on pretty chargers or plates and layer them with pretty neutral linens for a dinner place setting.

How Can You Personalize These Pumpkins?

Feel free to adorn your pumpkins and add little personal touches to make them your own!

Some ways to do this might be to:

  • Add some sparkle by putting glue on the edges of the pumpkins and sprinkling on your favorite glitter.
  • Tie little ribbon bows in coordinating colors on top of your pumpkin stems.
  • Glue little pearls or beads on to add a little glam.
  • Crumple your pumpkin cut outs or use rusty red, orange, or turquoise paints to add an extra level of aged patina.
  • Use stamps and thick paint to add an extra rustic element.
  • Glue on small squares of fabric or other light materials, such as burlap or raffia, to add some interesting texture to your pumpkins.

Tips For Printing

Choose the best print quality that you have available in your printer options.

I recommend printing these pages on cardstock or matte photo paper for best durability and print quality. Matte paper is best for vintage images such as these, as it gives a more authentic feel.

Don’t have a color printer? No problem! These book page pumpkins print beautifully in black and white too (and the greyscale quality gives it a lovely vintage appeal!)
