Varsity Style Skip Counting Pages – Free Printables For Learning Multiples To 12

Varsity Style Skip Counting Pages

These free printable math pages are just what you need to teach skip counting and multiplication facts. Whether you need posters for your classroom or key ring cards for your child or student to use as visual reminders, this set is a must have for your math tool kit!

What is skip counting?

In simple terms, skip counting is when you start with a number and then progressively add a specific number on to the previous number(s). For example, if we start with 0 and skip count by 4s, then we get 0, 4, 8, 12 and so on.

How do you explain skip counting to a child?

When explaining skip counting to a child, describe how it’s like hopping from one number to another by using a special number. One helpful method would be to draw on paper or use chalk on a sidewalk to draw a large number line. Then, use the simple example of skip counting by 2s (so 2 is your special number). Start with 0, and then draw a curved line from 0 to 2, then 2 to 4, and so on. Finally, allow children to point to or hop on the numbers to act out how skip counting works. You can even have each child hold a picture of the special number as they jump across the number line, as a visual reminder.

How is this skip counting set designed?

This set includes skip counting facts from one to twelve. The multiples for each number are displayed within the numeral itself in increasing order. Students can study and review the multiples visuals to learn skip counting and multiplication facts in a visually interesting manner. When information is presented visually, it often allows students to have a better understanding of the material and can help memorization as well. What I love about this set is that it also allows students to discover patterns when they are studying the skip counting progressions, which further solidifies their understanding and recall of the multiplication facts.

This set features collegiate or varsity style typography with 2 different print color options:

  • If you prefer to use color ink, the bright color option is for you and features vibrant pink, peach, blue, yellow, green, turquoise, and purple.
  • If you prefer or only have access to a black ink printer (as many educators do), the black and white set is perfect for you.

What is included in the varsity style skip counting pages?

  • Single numeral pages (one numeral per page, measuring about 9.75 inches tall) in color and black/white
    • These are great to use as posters in your classroom or homeschool setting. Simply hang them on a nearby vertical surface so that students can reference them as needed.
    • You can also print these and present them to your students one page at a time as you introduce and teach each number. Furthermore, you can print the black and white copies and allow your students to color them, to make it more fun each time you introduce a new number.
  • Multi-numeral pages (numbers 1 to 12 all included on one page) in color and black/white
    • These are great if you are short on notebook or wall space, as all 12 numbers fit on one sheet.
  • Key ring cards with one numeral per card (each card measuring 3 inches) in color and black/white
    • These are easy to put together and make it a little more fun to practice skip counting. Simply print and cut out the cards. Then, add a hole punch in the corner, slide in a key ring to hold the cards together, and you are ready to practice skip counting and learning multiplication!

Tips For Printing

I recommend printing these pages on cardstock or matte photo paper for best durability and print quality.

If you have a color printer, you can, of course, print the color pages for the varsity brights color palette.

If you are using black ink only, you can print the black and white pages of your choosing on to white paper (which, again, is a great option for letting students color and add their own style to the numbers), or you can print onto colored cardstock to create a color scheme of your choosing.

If you plan to reuse these prints, laminating them can help them last longer.
