Free Printable Graph Paper
I just had to create some free printable graph paper, because there are so many great ways to use it! Keep reading to find out more about graph paper and the options I have here, or scroll down to the blue links at the bottom of this post if you are ready to download the PDF file(s).
About Graph Paper
Graph paper has many names, including: squared paper, coordinate paper, grid paper, and quad paper. If you want to be fancy, it’s also known as quadrille (or quadrillé in French) paper.
The free printable graph paper in this post is essentially squared paper. Each page contains a grid of squares of equal size that fill to the margin. There are a variety of sizes of graph paper, with some of the most common being letter, A4, and A5 layouts. (I have included all three of these page sizes here for you!) The grid squares come in a variety of sizes as well. In regard to units of measure, graph paper is often available in inches if you need to use imperial measurements (typical for the U.S. and Canada) or centimeters if you are working within the metric system. The graph pages I have below include both imperial and metric units of measure.
Uses For Graph Paper
Graph paper has so many practical and beneficial uses, including:
- Drawing: Graph paper helps to keep everything to the desired scale for all types of art projects for kids and adults alike, whether creating doodle art with your little ones or penning your creative ideas to paper.
- Crafting: Graph paper can be used for all sorts of DIY and crafting projects, such as cross stitching and knitting designs, sewing patterns, quilting patterns, and more!
- Math: All ages and ability levels can use graph paper for basic geometry, graphing functions in calculus, and beyond.
- Science: Students and scientists in a variety of disciplines can use graph paper to create a visual representation of new concepts and/or data, whether for research purposes or in the classroom.
- Engineering: Professionals use graph paper for everything from designing roadways, constructing skyscrapers, and beyond.
- Home planning: Use graph paper to bring your home project designs to life, whether you are designing new garden beds or renovating part of your home, such as your kitchen or bath.
- Getting organized: You can use graph paper for bullet journaling; keeping track of your moods, habits, goals, and/or lifestyle, etc.; note taking; checklists; calendars; and so much more.
- Essentially, if you have data, ideas, or designs you want to organize and bring to reality, graph paper can help you accomplish your goals!
Downloading and Printing Your Free Printable Graph Paper
All of the graph paper pages I have created are available in easy to download and print PDF files. Simply scroll down to the blue links at the bottom of the page, and click on the ones you would like to save to your device. Then you are ready to print!
If you would like to print these pages for repeated use and/or to laminate, I recommend printing on heavy duty card stock or matte photo paper for the best durability.
Be sure to print at 100% scale to maintain the proper size of the squares on each page. (Avoid checking “stretch to fit,” “shrink to fit,” or “full page” in your printer settings, as these will incorrectly skew the scale of the grid.)
